Join the fun at Hawk’s landing for tonight’s showing of “12 Years a Slave”, a remarkable and powerful true story about Solomon Northup. In the pre-Civil War United States, Solomon, played by Chiwetel Ejiofor, is a  free black man from upstate New York who is abducted and sold into slavery. Facing cruelty as well as unexpected kindnesses, Solomon struggles not only to stay alive, but to retain his dignity. In the twelfth year of his unforgettable odyssey, Solomon’s chance meeting with a Canadian abolitionist, played by Brad Pitt, forever alters his life. You will have the chance to win several door prizes and it is free to all Northeast students with a current ID.
