NORFOLK – The Northeast Community College women’s basketball team has reentered the national rankings.
The 24-2 Hawks come in at #24 in this week’s National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I poll. Northeast broke into the Top 25 in December and January, reaching #23 before falling out of the poll.
Northeast, which is averaging 79.7 points per game, is on a nine game winning streak. The team is 17-0 at home, while it is 7-2 on the road.
The Hawks will hit the road this weekend as it takes on North Iowa Area Community College (22-2) in Mason City, IA. The Trojans are ranked #1 in the latest NJCAA Division II poll. Saturday’s game will start at 1 p.m.
Following Saturday’s contest, the Northeast women have two more games on its regular season schedule. It will host Central Community College of Columbus at the Cox Activities Center as part of a women’s-men’s doubleheader. The women’s game begins at 6 p.m. with the men’s game to follow at 8 p.m.
On Friday, February 21, the Northeast women will host the Concordia University JV. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
