Ben Temple, Norfolk, received a top novice award in impromptu speaking. Drew Sempek, Stromsburg, also competed in the tournament.
Nelson said Larry Schnoor, National Forensics Association president and AFA-NIET tournament director, shared kind words toward the Northeast team at the tournament. He said he saw great potential in Northeast Community College’s competitors.
“What a dynamite group of freshmen who competed in their first tournament of the season,” Nelson said.
