NORFOLK – A Minneapolis theatre troupe will perform this month at Northeast Community College as part of a Hispanic Heritage Month observance at the College.
The performance of “Minnecanos,” as performed by the Mixed Blood Theatre, will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 17, in the Lifelong Learning Center on the Norfolk campus. It is free and open to
the public.
the public.
“Minnecanos” takes a look at a century’s worth of Chicano cultural history that finds a cantankerous old man using the memorabilia of his lifetime to introduce his great-grandchild to their shared heritage. The show has some energetic corridas (story-songs), some near-slapstick humor, and some surprisingly touching reconciliation moments among four generations of the man’s family.
A brief question and answer session will follow the 45 minute performance.
The event is sponsored by the Northeast Community College Heritage Month Committee. For more information, contact Carissa Kollath at (402) 844-7159.
