Have you ever wondered what happened after your favorite fairy tale ended, or why every princess is married to Prince Charming? Golden Globe-winner, Chris Colfer, answers these questions and more in his novel The Land of Stories: The Wishing Spell.

The Land of Stories is about twins Alex and Conner Bailey. After receiving an old storybook from their grandma for their 11th birthday, they are transported in the land of fairy tales. They must travel through this new world to find a way to get back home.

The trip of course isn’t complete without talking animals, magical kingdoms, a plethora of mythical creatures and of course a few surprises along the way.

Even though this book is geared toward 8 – 12 year olds, I think it is a great read for anyone for loves magic and fairy tales. Colfer did a great job at creating this new land and it’s easy to get in the story.

Actor Chris Colfer is best known for playing Kurt Hummel on Glee.  But this, his first novel, The Land of Stories, debuted at #1 on the New York Times Best Sellers List.

In an interview found on the books website, thelandofstoriesbook.com, Colfer said The Land of Stories has been in his head since he was a young child and he would write chapters for his grandmother to edit.

Don’t worry about having to wonder what happens after this book ends, there is already a sequel in the works!
