The Northeast Lady Hawks won their last two regular home games of the season with a large upset. In their game against Lamar Community College, the Lady Hawks won with a substantial lead of 50 points ending the game with a total score of 84 to 34 points. The Lady Hawks led the game with a very strong offense, with Sasha Carter helping the team propel to victory. With a total of 24 points, Carter, along with fellow team mate, Erica Long, with a total of 22 points were the main driving force behind the Lady Hawks victory. The women’s team had a substantial amount of rebounds, in total they had 51 compared to Lamar’s 25 throughout the total game. Most of the rebounds the girls made were defensive rebounds, showing the strength of the girl’s defense. The team was not only strong in terms of offense; they also were very strong defensively. Lamar ended up having 5 turnovers, while the Lady Hawks did not have a single one.
In their last regular home game of the season the Lady Hawks won a game against North Platte Community College. This game was played just two days after their great victory over Lamar Community College. This game, just like the one against Lamar, showed the strength of the Lady Hawks offensive and defensive strength. With a final score of 86 to 59, the Lady Hawks showed their true strength on the court.
Just like the game against the game against Lamar, one of the main proponents that led the team to victory was Sasha Carter. This game Cater scored a total of 17 points. Along with Carter, Allysa Weatherd was a big scorer in this game. With a total of 14 points, she was a great asset in the game. The ladies had a total of 49 compared to North Platte’s 36. Of those 49 rebounds, 30 of them were defensive rebounds. These types of victories were seen throughout the entire season with the ladies having very large wins like these. The Lady Hawks went on to play in the Region 9 Tournament which was played from March 9 to the 13th.
