Hawks baseball finishes 1-3 against Cloud County

CONCORDIA, KS – The Northeast Community College baseball team finished 1-3 in a weekend series against Cloud County Community College here. The Hawks lost both games of a doubleheader on Saturday, 16-13 and 18-2. On Sunday, Northeast won the first game 10-9 but lost the nightcap 12-2.

In Saturday’s first game, Northeast’s Drew Smith hit two home runs and five runs batted in (RBIs) while Brennen Bales also had two home runs. Cale Hlavac was the losing pitcher. The box score for Saturday’s second game is unavailable.

The Hawks started strong in Sunday’s first game with Smith scoring on a home run while Jarod Morris singled to center to bring in two runs in the top of the first. Bales picked the win.

Bales and Christian Dumont hit home runs for the Hawks in Sunday’s second game which went five innings.

Northeast (3-4) will be action this weekend when it hits the road for a four-game series against Kansas City Kansas Community College. Saturday and Sunday’s doubleheaders begin
at 12 p.m.
