COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – Days after it was announced that Northeast’s Community College’s Drew Smith was named Baseball Player of the Week by the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference, the freshman right fielder has earned similar recognition at the national level.

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) named Smith as its national Division II Baseball Player of the Week for the week of February 5-11.

During the College’s first-ever games this past weekend, Smith, of Elkhorn, batted .667 in three games at Hesston College in Hesston, KS. He recorded two doubles and five RBI’s as the Hawks went 2-1 to start its inaugural season, including a 12-10
win in the team’s first ever game.

The Hawks will be in action this weekend when they travel to Concordia, KS, for two doubleheaders against Cloud County Community College. Games on Saturday and Sunday beginning at 1 p.m.
