NEW PROVIDENCE, IA – The Northeast Community College men’s basketball team earned a win over Quakerdale Prep here Monday night, defeating the Eagles 91-85.

Despite a shorthanded roster, Northeast pushed to an early 12-point lead and were able to keep a sizable lead for most of the game. At the end of the second half, Quakerdale netted two three-pointers, but the Hawks held on to the 91-85 victory.

“Every game we’ve played this year, we’ve had a lead,” said Northeast Coach Dan Anderson. “We have to find a way to close out games.”

Calvin Harrington led the Hawks in scoring with 18 points, while Melkisedek Moreaux had 14, and Kyle McKinley, ten.

Northeast (5-3) travels to Park Hills, MO this weekend for the Mineral Area College Classic on Friday and Saturday.
