Northeast Community College highlights alcohol awareness with Sober in October

Mark Lange and Colin Ortmeier

National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week is October 19-25. In honor of that, Northeast Community College’s Student Activities Council (SAC), the Health & Wellness and The Alcohol and Other Drug Committee hosted the annual “Sober in October” on October 19, 2016. Students learned the effects of alcohol by participating in several unique activities throughout the Ag Complex.

The activities included students walking on a line, driving and parking a golf cart while wearing Fatal Vision Goggles. A Solo-cup activity opened students’ eyes to the actual serving sizes of different alcoholic beverages. The Viewpoint’s Mark Lange along with videographer Colin Ortmeier has the story.
