FORT DODGE, IA – The Northeast Community College volleyball team struggled against Iowa Central Community College here Wednesday, dropping three sets 25-21, 25-17 and 26-24.

Tonight was a rough night for us,” said Hawks Coach Amanda Schultze. “Many of the girls did not show up focused and ready to play. Iowa Central played a very good match and had lots of energy. They passed very well and blocked a lot of balls, which frustrated our attackers.”

Courtni Kunz led Northeast in kills with 9 and in assist blocks with two. Tabitha Kander had three ace serves, while Mackenzie Wecker and Courtney Labenz led digs with 17 and 16, respectively. Labenz finished with 23 assists.

Northeast (17-5) competes in the Central Community College Tournament on Friday and Saturday in Columbus. On Friday, they face Kansas City Kansas Community College at 1 p.m. and Fort Scott Community College at 3 p.m. Saturday’s schedule for the Hawks includes a 9 a.m. game against Williston State College and a 1 p.m. match with Cowley Community College.
