NORFOLK – Northeast Community College has signed its first ever softball player.

During her junior year, Rodgers hit .407 and broke the state record in doubles hit in a game, and tied the state record for most triples in a game. She also set her high school’s record for most doubles hit in a season with 13.

During her senior year, Rodgers was named to the Omaha World Herald’s All-State Second Team and East Husker Conference First Team.

“I am extremely excited to add Amy to the Northeast family,” said Iris Woodhead, Northeast coach. “She is a tremendous athlete who has seen a lot of success in her high school career. She understands the game well and has a ton of softball ability. Amy is a very accomplished hitter with great power and will be tough in our lineup. I expect that she will come in and make an immediate impact for us next year.”

Northeast Community College recently added women’s softball to its athletic lineup. Play will begin this fall.
