Prairie Grass Film Challenge Awards Ceremony

The Northeast Media Arts department is hosting Dordt College’s Digital Media Production Instructor Mark Volkers and Dean for Campus Life Robert Taylor, Monday, November 10, 12 p.m. in the Cox Theater. Volkers will talk about the 9th Annual Prairie Grass Film Challenge, a 48 hour film contest  held every year in the 3rd week of January.  Filmmakers from all over the United States enter in 3 categories, high school, college, and post college and can win cash prizes. The contest attracts media, theater, creative writing and speech students and professionals because of the on the spot script and film concept creation and the challenge of making a film in 2 days.

Volkers and Taylor will also talk about Prairie Grass Productions, the Digital Media production company incorporated into the college curriculum. Dordt students get the chance to travel internationally, making documentaries and professional video projects.

Anyone interested in the upcoming Prairie Grass Film Challenge January 15-17, 2015 is welcome to attend. Both Taylor and Volkers will also speak to students about degrees and what it takes to transfer to Dordt after Northeast.
